Powerful Words my Father Told me From A-Z

A father's role in the life of his children is very important. What he says to them can greatly influence their behavior or self concept. Positive words of wisdom can shape their  life for life. While on the other hand, negative words can break their spirit. Throughout the book of Solomon it is written, "My son heed to your father's instruction." Solomon the wisest man knew the importance of relating important instructions to his sons. It is said that one's father is worth more than a hundred schoolmasters. Teachers cannot take the position of a father. The role of teachers are to educate while the role of the father is to nurture and train. Train up a child the way he should grow and when he is old he will not depart from it.

My late father, Vassel Oliver Hyre, was a very wise man. It was his custom or habit to quote a proverb to me whenever the need arose. These  wise, clever sayings were expressed in short sentences. He has left me a legacy far more valuable than lands, silver and gold. When I was a child growing up in Jamaica, older folks took it as their responsibility to share many of the proverbs written  in this book with their off springs  and my father was no exception.

Much wisdom can be gleaned from everyday proverbs that older folks pass down to their generations. These should be used when needed in conversation. For example, if your child does not see the need to complete assignments on time then the proverb, "Procrastination is the thief of time," would be a relevant proverb to quote and explain.

These powerful, popular, proverbs have helped to mold my character throughout life . Even now, quite often when speaking to my siblings or others, I love to quote the sayings of my father by remarking, “And as dada would say.” By understanding life through these powerful, short, sweet and sometime spicy words, as my fellow Jamaicans would say, I made wise choices that lead me to be the successful woman I have grown to become , and still aspiring to be.

My desire is to empower my present and future generations by sharing these powerful and popular proverbs in writing. My hope is that parents and significant others will rekindle the tradition of our fore parents who delighted in sharing them with us , this rich legacy that was passed down to  them and now to us.

As you read them, do take the liberty to glean whatever message or messages they might convey to you that were otherwise not stated.  I have written the interpretations the way I understood them, then and now.

Many of the proverbs in this book will be relevant to different age groups. Use them wisely and accordingly.

Now, it’s time to read, assimilate , enjoy and share!

There is Higher Power

When you are burdened down with the cares of life, do not worry. There is higher power.
Here is the key. Worry about nothing.Pray about everything.
Raise your hands right now and start thanking God for his goodness. Pray to him about your concerns.
Once you have worshiped and prayed start rejoycing and expecting things to change for the better.
Call things that are not as if they were. This is faith. Faith in God will move your mountains.

Worry about nothing. Pray about everything.

Success is Right Under Your Nose!

There is power in the spoken word. Whatever you say will return to you.
Life and death are in the power of your tongue. Choose life.

In the book of Genesis chapter one, it is recored that  God created the world by speaking the word.
And God said, Let there be light and there was light.
And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters...
And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together ..
And God said, Let he earth bring grass..
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven..
And God said, let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind...
And God said, Let us make man in our image.....

Today I challenge you to speak what you seek.

Food For Thought

As you make your bed so you must lie in it.

The story is told of a man who was given the job to build a house. This man received enough money to build a home with the best quality material but instead he used the cheapest. Upon completion of the home he was told that he could have the home he built as a wedding gift. He was shocked instead of being joyful when he heard this news. Be a person of excellency at all times. What you sow you surely will reap. You are responsible for the consequences of your actions be they good or bad.

I Thirst

"I Thirst" is one of the most provocative books ever written. Here, clearly, God has endowed Ms. Tassel with a special vision and eyesight to see beyond the current reality of life and say "I THIRST." Here is the greatest yearning any man can achieve, Can you say I THIRST when things seem to go well, Yet, you want it better. you say I thirst when things seem to go bad and yet you still hope that your THIRST is the waxing desire and internal motivation you need to stand back up and say one more time, I am not satisfied with the situation as it is, I THIRST for something better, Even in the Ghetto where I am or in that deplorable situation that makes me feel so low about my self, still "I THIRST." can you say it with me right now, "I THIRST." One writer I admire puts it this way, "Higher than the highest human thoughts can reach, is God's ideal for his children." God wants something higher than your highest dreams. He wants something that can be exceedingly, abundantly above all you can ask or think. So, as the developer of "DREAMSTART" I say with the deepest voice I know Dr. Wintley Phipps " keep on Climbing until you reach your goal, keep on striving, with all your heart and soul.~Sony Roy

Minister Tassel C. E. Daley has been inspired and anointed by the Holy Spirit with the pen of a ready writer to write this best seller. She has brilliantly drawn the correlation between natural thirst and the desire and the thirst all of us should have for the presence of God.
She also reveals the reason behind your burning desire and how you may quench it.
